Not a "coming soon" placeholder. A full PV with music. That means this thing is real, it's close, and fans who've been sleeping on this manga owe it to themselves to catch up fast.
The anime officially premieres July 4, 2026, with THE JET BOY BANGERZ performing the opening theme "Budding" and WOLF HOWL HARMONY handling the ending theme "Koko ni Iru (I Am Here)." Clean band names. Instantly memorable track titles. Already a good sign.
So where does the franchise actually stand? Hiroshi Shiibashi's manga has been running in Ultra Jump since February 2021 and currently sits at 13 volumes in Japan. That's five years of worldbuilding fans are sitting on. The man made Nurarihyon no Mago, he knows exactly how to make supernatural lore feel lived-in and earned, not just window dressing. Set in 1910s Japan, the story follows Kodō Iwamoto, a military school student tasked with investigating paranormal events and identifying people with supernatural abilities, for use as weapons. Military supernatural. Meiji-era aesthetic. Morally gray government orders. That's a formula the seinen crowd eats up every time.
Community reaction right now is split between cautious hype and full-on preseason panic. Twitter and Reddit threads are already comparing the vibe to Hell's Paradise and Moriarty the Patriot, and not without reason. Yoshiaki Dewa, who scored Hell's Paradise, is handling music here too. That composer credit alone sent a chunk of the fandom from "interested" to "day one watch." Akira Ishida, Masaya Fukunishi, and Takuma Nagatsuka were all confirmed at AnimeJapan 2026, and veteran seiyuu fans immediately clocked Ishida's involvement as a quality signal.
