Crafting the Impossible: Meet Kolkata Cosplayer ‘Poetry’
When it comes to cosplay, there are those who buy, and there are those who build. In the heart of the Kolkata cosplay community, Poetry (known digitally as @poetrybysanji) stands firmly in the latter camp. Specializing in bringing larger-than-life characters into the real world, Poetry thrives on the grease, sweat, and sheer willpower required to turn impossible 2D designs into wearable art.

Forging the Grand Line and the Soul Society
While many cosplayers jump between whatever shows are currently trending, Poetry has carved out a distinct niche by mastering the aesthetics of two legendary Shonen giants: the One Piece and Bleach universes.
Taking on characters from these series is notoriously difficult due to their exaggerated proportions and gravity-defying designs, but that is exactly where Poetry excels. She takes immense pride in building the majority of her cosplays from scratch. From scaling and crafting oversized weapons that look like they weigh a ton (but can be carried all day), to experimenting with complex textures and wrestling with stubborn wigs, she embraces the chaotic process of creation.

Conquering the Kolkata Convention Scene
That dedication to craftsmanship hasn't gone unnoticed. Poetry is a highly active and recognized figure in the local event circuit. Over the past two years, she has brought her dramatic poses and bold character embodiments to the floor of Kolkata Comic Con (2025 and 2026) and Anime India Kolkata 2026.
Her meticulous attention to detail recently culminated in a major victory at the Shibuya Nights event (organized by the Bonganime group), where her work impressed the judges enough to secure 1st place in the cosplay competition.

Always Planning the Next Build
Poetry is constantly on the lookout for the next challenge. She actively seeks out characters that will push her creativity—and her patience—to the absolute limit. If there is a bold character with an oversized sword, a complex silhouette, or a dramatic pose waiting to be struck, you can bet Poetry is already in her workshop, planning the build.

Thanks for going through her profile, we're on the mission to build Indian anime cosplayer's portfolio database where you can help and support your favourite cosplayers directly.
Why? Because simple we have observed many Indian cosplayers who are doing cosplays via self funding some even lack it, but their dedication is easily shown by their profiles, we want this dedication of theirs to not go unnoticed. Simple as that.
