Well, that took a minute. The anime for Zombie no Afureta Sekai de Ore Dake ga Osowarenai, shortened to ZomOre if you want the lazy tag, now has a delayed January 2027 premiere on AT-X, revealed alongside a teaser, visual, main cast and staff. Wataru Katō voices ex-office drone Yūsuke Takemura and Yuno Azuma plays Mitsuki Fujino, with Kazuya Fujishiro directing at acca effe and Frontier Engine. The series was first announced in February 2024, so fans have already waited ages. The delay stings. A real date still beats a vague someday.

Why care? The hook is mean and clean. Takemura is a shut-in who loses his job, binges games for a week, steps outside once, gets bitten, and wakes up to a world overrun by zombies that leave him alone. No chosen-one speech. Picture every zombie movie hero's moral dilemma, then picture a guy who skips all of them. Rokuro Uraji's light novel started on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2013 before Frontier Works picked it up in 2016. Chihiro Masuda's manga has run since 2021, and a spinoff called Tokiko IF Story began in October 2025. Fair warning though: this is seinen with horror and erotica tags, not a cozy Zom 100 style romp.

So where's the conversation heading? Two threads, mostly. First, the Zom 100 comparison, which is lazy but understandable. Both drop you into a wrecked world with a protagonist who's weirdly free. The difference is tone, because ZomOre goes selfish and dark. That's the hot take that'll split people. Some want a power fantasy with teeth, others keep waiting for Takemura to grow a conscience. Second, the delay. The official line is just various circumstances, which never calms anyone down, so expect production panic theories anyway. My take? The anime lives or dies on keeping Takemura a jerk. Sand him down and there's nothing left.

Realistic expectations? AT-X airs it first, probably late night, and probably with trimmed visuals for broadcast. A fuller home video version wouldn't shock anyone given the premise. No international streaming partner showed up in what I found, so viewers in India may be waiting a while for a legal way in. Look for another promo clip, a theme song reveal and a fresh key visual before winter. Predictions are predictions though, and nothing about streaming, episode count or an exact premiere date is confirmed. Treat it as a dark horse for the January 2027 season, not a guaranteed banger. Hype it, sure. Just keep one eyebrow raised.
