Navier just landed a second adaptation, and the timing is almost rude. Crunchyroll announced an anime of The Remarried Empress at New York Comic Con 2026, with TROYCA animating and a 2027 slot confirmed. It's part of a bigger Aniplex, Crunchyroll and WEBTOON deal to produce roughly 15 anime series. Meanwhile, the live-action drama arrives on Disney+ and Hulu on November 4. Two versions of one revenge story, one very crowded stretch of the calendar. Fans wanted this. Few expected it this fast.

Here's why people are losing it. Alphatart's web novel became a webtoon, and that webtoon wrapped with Chapter 247 in January after seven years. A finished story is rare in this space. The setup is pure comfort food for drama addicts: Navier, the flawless empress, divorces Emperor Sovieshu when she learns he wants to replace her with his mistress, then sets out to become an empress somewhere else. Cold, calculated, gloriously petty. The drama stars Shin Min Ah, Lee Jong Suk, Ju Ji Hoon and Lee Se Young. Four episodes land on launch day, then two drop every Wednesday through the November 25 finale. Three of the ten episodes screen at the Busan International Film Festival this October.

Now the argument. Which one is the "real" adaptation? Hot take: that's a fake fight. The series already has a strong international following, Japan especially, and the September trailer gave the drama hype a proper shove. Over on TikTok, Brazilian fan accounts are already counting down to November 4. The anime crowd will fixate on TROYCA instead, because a prestige-minded fanbase is a tough room. Webtoon readers carry one nagging worry: will the ending survive the trip? Nobody has seen a single frame of the anime yet, so every theory right now is vibes. Fun vibes, though.

So what's realistic? Don't pencil in a spring 2027 date. The year and the studio are confirmed. That's it. No cast, no trailer, no episode count. Expect a teaser and voice cast news in the coming months, probably timed to ride the drama's run. Because the webtoon is complete, the anime has a full ending to aim at, which should help pacing. Still, temper your hopes on length. One cour can't hold seven years of palace scheming without trimming something painful. For now, watch the drama first, argue about the anime later.
