Movie Announcement:
The final episode of Seishun Buta Yarou wa Santa Claus no Yume wo Minai announced a new anime film on Saturday. Titled Seishun Buta Yarou wa Dear Friend no Yume wo Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend), the movie will open in theaters in Japan in 2026.
Based on the light novel by Hajime Kamoshida, the Rascal Does Not Dream series explores the mysterious phenomenon known as “Adolescent Syndrome,” strange events triggered by the insecurities and struggles of youth. The latest installment, Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, began airing on television in July and wrapped up with its 13th and final episode in September.
Adaptation Details:
The new film will adapt volumes 14 and 15 of Hajime Kamoshida’s Seishun Buta Yarou Series light novels. These are the last volumes of the series, marking the conclusion of the long-running story.
The story revolves around Miori and her late best friend Touko Kirishima, whose unfinished song and fractured “presence” distort reality around Sakuta and Mai, blurring where Touko ends and others begin.

Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai aired as a 13-episode TV anime in Fall 2018, produced by CloverWorks.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai opened in theaters in June 2019, adapting volumes 6 and 7.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Odekake Sister no Yume wo Minai released in June 2023, followed by Seishun Buta Yarou wa Randoseru Girl no Yume wo Minai in December 2023, adapting volumes 8 and 9.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Santa Claus no Yume wo Minai, covering the University Arc, premiered in July 2024 and concluded with its 13th episode in September 2025.
A promotional video announcing the production of the theatrical anime "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl" has also been released. The anime "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl" series is finally moving towards its conclusion.
