It's official. A third season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World was revealed today at the Fantasia Bunko Grand Thanksgiving Festival 2026 Online, with a teaser visual and the returning cast and staff. Yuki Inaba is back to direct and handle series scripts, and Studio Palette and SILVER LINK are animating again. Yusuke Kobayashi, Sora Amamiya, Nao Shiraki and Kaori Ishihara all return as Iska, Alice, Mismis and Nene. What's missing? Any release date. Not a season, not a window. Just a teaser and a promise.

Why should you care? Because Iska and Alice are the "enemies who can't quit each other" couple that this whole franchise runs on. And it has put fans through a lot. Season 2 was greenlit in October 2021 and slated for Summer 2023, then slipped to Summer 2024. Episode 5 was pulled in August 2024 with no return date. It finally came back in April 2025, restarting from episode one. Rough. The story itself isn't the problem, though. The light novels reached 16 volumes by October 2024, so there's plenty of material left to adapt.

Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World key visual

So what's the fandom saying? Honestly, split. One half is hyped that the Empire versus Nebulis Sovereignty drama gets more screen time. The other half is squinting at the calendar, and fair enough. Nobody forgot the hiatus. The loudest questions are the obvious ones. Is production actually in good shape this time? Full cour or not? Will Inaba's crew get a sane schedule? My hot take: announcing early with only a teaser is smart. Delays sting less when nothing has been promised yet. Theories about which volumes Season 3 starts from are already floating around, but nothing's confirmed.

Now, realistic expectations. Don't circle a date yet. Festival reveals like this often land a year or so out, but that's my read, not an announcement. A key visual and a proper PV should come before any premiere date. Same director and same character designer means the look should stay close to Season 2, which was gorgeous at its best. Crunchyroll streamed Season 2 with an English dub, so a repeat is the safe bet. The honest wish is boring and perfect: steady weekly episodes, no emergency pauses.
